Allocating your hours correctly is vital to receiving your paycheck on time. Depending on where you live there are different laws. Review the below table to make sure that you are allocating correctly.
CA |
Overtime (OT) - should be allocated for hours worked over 8 in a single day and over 40 total in the week. Doubletime (DT) – should be allocated for hours worked over 12 in a single day When 7 consecutive days are worked in the work week, OT should be allocated for first 8 hours and DT allocated for +8 hours worked on the 7th day worked |
Federal |
Any hours worked over 40 hours within the same work week should be allocated towards overtime (OT). If you work more than 8 hours in a single day, the hours do not count as overtime unless you have over 40 total hours for the week. |
